Another examples of Alternativa3D applications

03.12.2008 Mikhail Fominykh

This is yet another couple of demonstrations of Alternativa3D engine in action. First one shows an example of using it in a browser-based realtime strategy/RPG game. It uses fast orthographic mode for camera for better performance. Trees and characters are represented with sprites. Characters are controlled as in any strategy game, separately or in group.

Very nice examples. I can imagine this being used for creating an easy to access resource for helping people understand how various machines work online.

Hey, I don’t think I’ve ever seen an alternativa demo that has any kind of model motion like the second demo does. Is that a new feature, or are you doing some kind of trick to get it to work? In all of my alternativa tests, polygon motion was always extremely slow(because of the rebuilding of the bsp tree).

alternativa rocks, continue to work harder! :D

(and thank you to have come to flexcamp in italy, it has been a pleasure to meet you :) )

@Matt, as the saying goes, “you are doing it wrong” :) Clicky wordpress linky for my post on fast animation but, it seems in this particular case, no special tricks are involved - it works as is, just like balance game published by alternativa earlier.

Like Matt Rix said, the second one looks very interesting. How did you get it work?
